Shipping Policy

Effective Date: June 21, 2026
Last Updated: June 21, 2026

At backyard discoverys  (“backyard discoverys,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), we are committed to delivering your shipping containers and trailers safely, efficiently, and with clear communication every step of the way. Because our products are large, heavy, and require specialized transport equipment, this Shipping Policy explains how we process, schedule, and deliver your order, what we expect from you as the buyer, and how we handle issues such as delays, site access, and damage. Please read this policy carefully before placing your order. By completing a purchase with us, you agree to the terms described below.

1. Order Processing & Confirmation

Once you place an order, we will review it for accuracy, confirm product availability, and verify your delivery details, including the full delivery address and site information. Your order is considered confirmed only after we have validated these details and your payment has cleared in full. For more information about accepted payment methods and when payment is considered cleared, please see our Payment Policy.

If we identify any issues with your order—such as an incomplete address, an inaccessible site, or a product availability change—we will contact you promptly to resolve them before scheduling delivery. Delays in responding to our requests may delay your delivery timeframe.

2. Shipping Fees & Coverage Area

Flat-Rate Shipping

We offer $350 flat-rate shipping within the continental United States. This flat rate covers transport of your container or trailer from our facility or the nearest depot to your specified delivery address.

Additional Charges

Deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and remote or hard-to-reach sites may incur additional charges beyond the flat rate. In these cases, we will prepare a custom shipping quote based on the destination, access conditions, and required equipment. We will share any additional charges with you for approval before finalizing your order.

Applicable sales tax is calculated separately from shipping. Please see our Sales Tax Policy for details.

3. Delivery Coverage

We deliver to all 50 U.S. states. We do not offer international shipping at this time, and we are unable to deliver to addresses or territories outside the United States.

4. Delivery Timeframes & Factors

Typical delivery occurs within 3–5 business days after your order has been confirmed and your payment has cleared. This timeframe is an estimate, not a guarantee, and actual delivery times may vary based on factors including:

  • Your geographic location and distance from our facility or nearest depot;
  • Product availability and inventory at the time of order;
  • Carrier scheduling and equipment availability;
  • Weather, road conditions, and seasonal demand;
  • Site accessibility and the completeness of your delivery information; and
  • Permitting or routing requirements for oversized loads.

We will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed if your delivery is expected to fall outside the typical window.

5. Delivery Methods

We use specialized transport equipment matched to your product and site conditions. Depending on the container ordered and your delivery location, your order may arrive via one of the following methods:

  • Flatbed trucks — with tilt-bed offload capability for controlled unloading;
  • Tilt-bed trailers — which slide the unit off at ground level onto a prepared site;
  • Step-deck trailers — used for oversized or specialty units; and
  • Crane service — where placement requires lifting the unit into position.

We reserve the right to determine the most appropriate delivery method based on the product, route, and site conditions. If your placement requires crane service or other special handling, additional charges may apply, and we will discuss these with you in advance where possible.

6. Delivery Coordination & Scheduling

After your order is confirmed and payment has cleared, our team or our carrier will coordinate with you to schedule a delivery date and an estimated arrival window. You, or an authorized adult representative, must be present at the delivery site to direct placement of the unit and to sign for the delivery.

Please ensure the contact information you provide is accurate and that you are reachable on your scheduled delivery date. If we are unable to reach you to coordinate or confirm delivery, your delivery may be delayed and additional fees may apply (see Section 11).

7. Customer Site Requirements

Proper site preparation is essential for a safe and successful delivery. Before your scheduled delivery, you are responsible for ensuring the delivery site is ready. The site must be:

  • Level — reasonably flat and even;
  • Firm — capable of supporting the weight of the unit and the delivery vehicle (for example, gravel, concrete, or well-compacted ground); and
  • Clear — free of obstructions, debris, vehicles, equipment, and other obstacles in the placement and approach areas.

Soft, muddy, sloped, or unprepared ground can prevent safe delivery and may result in a failed delivery, redelivery fees, or property damage for which we are not responsible.

8. Site Access & Accessibility

Our deliveries are made using full-size semi-trucks and specialized trailers. It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify that the delivery site can accommodate large delivery vehicles. Before delivery, please confirm that your site provides:

  • Adequate overhead clearance, free of low branches, power lines, wires, and structures;
  • A sufficient turning radius for a full-size semi to maneuver and exit;
  • A straight, unobstructed approach to the placement area; and
  • Roads, driveways, gates, and bridges capable of supporting the weight and dimensions of the delivery vehicle.

If a delivery vehicle cannot safely reach or access your site, our driver may be unable to complete the delivery. backyarddiscoverys is not liable for sites that are inaccessible to our equipment, and any resulting redelivery, rescheduling, or accessorial charges will be the buyer’s responsibility. If you are unsure whether your site can accommodate our delivery vehicles, please contact us before your delivery date so we can help assess your access.

9. Permits, Zoning & HOA Approvals

Obtaining any required permits and approvals is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Before your delivery, you are responsible for securing any applicable:

  • Local building, placement, or land-use permits;
  • Zoning approvals or compliance confirmations; and
  • Homeowners’ association (HOA) or other community approvals.

back yard discovery does not obtain permits or approvals on your behalf and is not responsible for verifying local regulations. Delivery delays, failed deliveries, fines, or removal requirements arising from missing permits or non-compliance are the buyer’s responsibility.

10. Order Tracking & Delivery Updates

We aim to keep you informed throughout the delivery process. Depending on your order and carrier, you may receive:

  • Status updates by email as your order is processed, scheduled, and dispatched;
  • An estimated arrival window for your delivery date;
  • Driver contact information or a courtesy call to coordinate the final approach; and
  • Delivery confirmation, which may include photos of the placed unit upon completion.

If you have questions about the status of your order at any time, you are welcome to contact us using the information at the end of this policy.

11. Accessorial, Redelivery & Failed-Delivery Fees

A flat-rate delivery assumes a single, successful delivery attempt to an accessible, prepared site with the buyer present. Additional accessorial, redelivery, or failed-delivery fees may apply when a delivery cannot be completed as scheduled due to circumstances within the buyer’s control, including but not limited to:

  • An inaccessible site or insufficient access for the delivery vehicle;
  • An incorrect or incomplete address provided by the buyer;
  • The buyer’s absence or the absence of an authorized representative to direct and sign for delivery;
  • Unsafe site conditions, such as soft, sloped, obstructed, or unprepared ground; or
  • A refused, rescheduled, or canceled delivery after dispatch.

In these situations, the buyer is responsible for any wait-time charges, return-trip costs, storage fees, and redelivery charges assessed by the carrier. We will communicate any such fees to you and, where possible, work with you to reschedule.

12. Inspection Upon Delivery & 48-Hour Damage Reporting

You are responsible for inspecting your container or trailer at the time of delivery, before the driver leaves. Please follow these steps:

  • Inspect carefully — examine the unit for any visible damage, defects, or discrepancies;
  • Note damage before signing — clearly record any damage or concerns on the delivery receipt before you sign it;
  • Photograph — take clear photos of any damage or issues at the time of delivery; and
  • Report promptly — notify us of any damage or issues within 48 hours of delivery.

Signing the delivery receipt without noting damage indicates that the unit was received in acceptable condition. Damage that is not noted on the receipt at delivery and reported within 48 hours may not be eligible for a claim. We may request your inspection photos and documentation to process any claim. For information about returns and remedies, please see our Returns and Refunds Policy.

13. Risk of Loss & Title Transfer

Risk of loss passes to the buyer upon delivery. Once your container or trailer has been delivered to your site and placed, responsibility for the unit—including any risk of loss, theft, or damage—transfers to you. Title and ownership transfer in accordance with our sales terms and applicable law. We strongly recommend that you inspect your unit promptly and arrange for appropriate security and protection of your property after delivery.

14. Delays & Force Majeure

While we work hard to meet our estimated delivery timeframes, certain events are beyond our reasonable control. We are not liable for delays or failures to deliver caused by events including, but not limited to:

  • Weather conditions and natural events;
  • Road restrictions, closures, construction, or routing limitations;
  • Equipment failure or mechanical breakdown;
  • Carrier scheduling constraints and capacity limitations;
  • Government action, regulations, permitting delays, or oversized-load restrictions; and
  • Other circumstances of force majeure beyond our control.

In the event of such delays, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and reschedule your delivery as promptly as conditions allow.

15. Governing Law

This Shipping Policy and any disputes arising from or relating to your order and its delivery are governed by the laws of the State , without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Shipping Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, carriers, or applicable requirements. The “Last Updated” date above indicates when the most recent changes took effect. The policy in effect at the time you place your order will apply to that order.
